Everyone jokes that the bride gains weight after she’s hooked her man into marrying her, but often it’s not limited to just the lady. Men gather their fair share of marriage pounds too. For some reason they seem to be harder to work off than the ones you gained back in your college days. This extra luggage can really put a damper on your sex life, whether that’s with the missus or the little side dish that you picked up from the next town over. Luckily, there is a way to get your pre-marriage body back. It just takes some hard work.
All of those beers and backyard barbecues have left you with a spare tire around your waist. How are you supposed to undo all of the damage that you’ve been doing for these past few years? Unfortunately it means cutting back on the things that you love. High calorie foods and drinks (like your beer) are only going to make the battle harder. Ditch those in favor of lower calorie options and then get to moving. Aerobic exercises like swimming, running, playing sports, or biking will get you to your goal the fastest. You’re looking to workout at least 30 minutes each go round and five times a week.
After you’ve burned off the fat of your gut you’re going to notice that the rest of your body has followed suit pretty well. While you’re focusing on your midsection, the entirety of your body was on the same page so you should be slimming up nicely. Now’s the time to start focusing on all of the muscle groups. Most guys already have pretty sturdy legs. Either they’ve already been working them out on purpose by doing the aerobics or they’ve been carrying such a heavy load they couldn’t help but be buff. At your local gym you’ll see that there’s a huge variety of machines to workout whatever body part you think needs it. Just follow the instructions and see what area of the body is highlighted on the stickers. If you aren’t one of those guys comfortable being at a gym then do yourself a favor and get some free weights. They’re a bit costly, but so much better than a yearly gym membership. Ideally you’ll get a set that is all in one. While a rack is great, it takes up space that you might not have. The all in one set has a dial that will turn your weight into a 10-50 pound dumbbell (this number varies by brand). Use them to do classic bicep curls, triceps kickbacks, or the bench press. You can also keep one in each hand while doing lunges or sit-ups to fully affect your whole body. While you can totally get the same effect of the gym at home, it’s going to take more discipline to get off of your lazy ass and into the cold garage.
The plan seems easy, but nothing will happen if you keep eating garbage. Find some rabbit foods that you like and start chowing down. Plus you can always eat lean meats and stick to beer…in moderation.
